General Motors Company named Dhivya Suryadevara as its next chief financial officer.

She succeeds Chuck Stevens, who is retiring on March 1. Stevens, who has been with GM for more than 40 years, will serve as an advisor to the company until his retirement.

Suryadevara, currently vice president of corporate finance, joined GM in 2005. Prior to her current role, Suryadevara served as GM’s vice president, finance and treasurer from 2015 to 2017 and as CEO and chief investment officer of GM Asset Management from 2013 to 2017.

Suryadevara will begin her new role on September 1 and report to GM Chairman and CEO Mary Barra.
