The Board of Directors at General Electric Company named H. Lawrence Culp, Jr. as the company’s new chairman and chief executive officer, replacing John Flannery, who had served in both positions for only 14 months.

Thomas W. Horton was also appointed the lead director; Culp and Horton have been members of GE’s Board since April 2018.

Previously, Culp spent two decades at Danaher Corporation, serving as executive vice president from 1999-2001, as chief operating officer from 2000-2001, and finally as president and CEO from 2001 until 2014.  After stepping down as president and CEO, Culp continued to serve as a senior advisor to Danaher for two years.

Culp’s new role is effective immediately.
