Aerojet Rocketdyne Holdings Inc. elected Kevin P. Chilton, a former NASA astronaut and retired Air Force general, to its board of directors on Oct. 30. He retired from the Air Force as a four-star general in 2011, following a 34-year military career. He served as commander of the U.S. Strategic Command from 2007 to 2011.

Before that, Chilton was commander of the Air Force Space Command from 2006 to 2007. Chilton also spent 11 years as an astronaut, serving as deputy program manager of operations for the International Space Station Program from 1996 to 1998.

Since retiring from the Air Force, Chilton has been on corporate boards, including at Anadarko Petroleum Corp., Orbital ATK (now part of Northrop Grumman Corp.) and CenturyLink Inc. He is currently a senior fellow for the National Defense University.
