Cognizant Technology Solutions Corp. is headed for change. Effective April 1, Francisco D’Souza will step down from his role as CEO and be succeeded by Brian Humphries, who is currently CEO of Vodafone Business.

D’Souza will aid in the transition process by moving into a short-term role as executive vice chairman until June 30. After that, he will continue in his capacity as vice chairman of the company’s board of directors.

A co-founder of the company, D’Souza has been with Cognizant for 25 years, previously serving as its president, its COO and its head of operations and business development in North America. He spent the last 12 years as CEO, a tenure that has seen Cognizant experience great growth. The company has had a home on the Fortune 500 since 2011, reaching its highest rank yet (195) on the most recent list, with $14.81 billion in reported revenue. In 2018, Cognizant reported its revenues grew even more, reaching $16.1 billion.

Humphries has served in his current role with Vodafone Business since 2017. He came to Vodafone from Dell Inc., where he held roles of increasing responsibility, including as president and COO of the infrastructure solutions group, president of the global enterprise solutions group, and vice president and general manager of enterprise solutions for EMEA. Before Dell, he spent several years at Hewlett-Packard Co., most recently as senior vice president of emerging markets.

On the new gig, Cognizant’s Chairman Michael Patsalos-Fox extolled: “Brian is a broadly experienced technology executive with a proven track record of driving enterprise-wide transformation through focused execution, often in challenging and highly competitive market segments.”
