Enhancing its national environmental and white collar practices, Vinson & Elkins LLP said Ronald J. Tenpas, previously assistant attorney general for the Environment and Natural Resources Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, joined the firm as a partner in Washington, D.C.

Tenpas will cover government enforcement, focusing on environmental litigation, and counseling under environmental laws.

He joins V&E from Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, where he practiced since 2009.

That followed a 12-year stay at the Justice Department, where, after his appointment by President George W. Bush to Assistant Attorney General in 2007, Tenpas managed a 700-person division that included 400 attorneys.
