Healthcare intelligence firm Leavitt Partners announced the hire of Chief Health Counsel Josh Trent as a principal in Washington.

Trent, an experienced leader in federal healthcare policy, was most recently chief counsel for the health subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee under Chairman Greg Walden. Before that, he served as the deputy chief health counsel for the committee and was a healthcare policy advisor for former Sen. Tom Coburn from 2009 to 2014.

Trent also worked in the Administration of President George W. Bush as a deputy associate director for the Office of Refugee Resettlement (Administration for Children and Families) under the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services, where he helped manage 100 staff and a $580 million budget.

In his new role, Trent will manage and advise the firm’s clients on matters of federal healthcare policy and strategy.
