APCO Worldwide named Kelly Williamson president of North America. She will assume the role from Global President Evan Kraus, who became N.A. president on an interim basis after Nelson Fernandez left the communications consultancy in February.
Williamson, who was recognized as a “Champion” in the 2018 PRWeek Hall of Femme and received the 2018 Top Women in PR award by PR News, joins a group of regional leads at APCO that includes Claire Boussagol, president, Europe; Mamoon Sbeih, president, MENA; and James Yi, managing director, Southeast Asia.
Williamson joined APCO in 1999 and has since founded APCO’s Raleigh, N.C., office, where she continues to serve as managing director. She is also a member of the firm’s global leadership team and leads APCO’s global Key Client Initiative, a team aimed at developing the next generation of client leaders. Outside the firm, Williamson is an adjunct professor and serves on the board of advisors at the University of North Carolina’s School of Media and Journalism.
