At NBC News, Ashley Parrish was promoted to vice president, strategic content for NBC News Digital and MSNBC.com. She previously served as executive editor for digital for the “Today” show as well as NBC News Lifestyle. Dana Haller was promoted to senior executive producer, strategic content for NBC News and MSNBC, reporting to Parrish.

FOX News Channel announced the launch of a new Saturday program to debut January 20, 2018. Hosted by Neil Cavuto, “CAVUTO Live” will feature news commentary on the major headlines impacting business and politics.

CNBC announced that it will begin broadcasting from a new studio at the Abu Dhabi Global Market in the first quarter of 2018.

Sesame Workshop announced that Benjamin Lehmann was named “Sesame Street” executive producer.

 

Newspapers

G. Chambers Williams III, the former business editor of the Knoxville News Sentinel, became the editorial page editor of the Bristol Herald Courier.

Donna Cassata will join The Washington Post as deputy congress editor, effective January 8, 2018. Cassata has been news editor, congress and politics for the Associated Press since 2015. Drew Harwell joined the Post as national business reporter. He previously covered real estate for Tampa Bay Times.

The New York Times announced several additions to the Business Day Desk. Keith Collins was named story editor for the Business Day Desk. He comes to the Times from Quartz where he covered technology for the Quartz Things vertical. Amy Chozick, former national politics correspondent for the Times, was named writer-at-large, focusing on feature stories. Emily Flitter, former industry and environment reporter for Thomson Reuters, joined Business Day as a banking reporter. In addition, The New York Times announced that bookends editor Jennifer Szalai will become its new nonfiction critic.

Boston Herald filed for bankruptcy and reached an agreement to sell the paper to GateHouse Media.

Barron’s announced that senior editor Dimitra DeFotis is leaving the paper. Brett Arends joined Barron’s to cover small-cap stocks.

At The Wall Street Journal, Andrew LaVallee was named arts editor. He was previously deputy bureau chief for corporate news. Lora Western was named Washington editor in New York.

 

Periodicals

The Reason website is the new home for the law and public policy blog The Volokh Conspiracy. It was previously part of The Washington Post web site.

Robert Safian, the editor of Fast Company, announced his departure from the magazine by the end of the year. He will be succeeded by Inc. magazine editor Eric Schurenberg, who will oversee both titles.

The New Yorker fired Washington correspondent Ryan Lizza following an allegation.

At Thomson Reuters, Joshua Franklin was named private equity and IPO reporter, taking over from Gui Qing Koh, who now focuses on investigative reporting covering Chinese money in the United States as well as Wall Street. Harry Brumpton, former senior reporter for Mergermarket, joined Thomson Reuters as M&A reporter. Kate Druguid, who previously wrote for Reuters Breakingviews, changed her beat and will now cover U.S. Treasury and global foreign exchange markets.

Nabila Ahmed joined Bloomberg News as deals reporter to cover media and telecom mergers and acquisitions.

 

Digital

Rose Pastore, former associate editor at Fast Company, joined Gizmodo as its science editor.

Maureen Connolly was named vice president and editor-in-chief of Everyday Health Consumer.

Jim Roberts was named editor-in-chief of Cheddar. He most recently served as managing director for Mercury Public Relations after a long career as a journalist, working for The New York Times, Thomson Reuters and Mashable. Former Business Insider reporter Alex Heath joined Cheddar as reporter for Cheddar Scoops.

Rachel Brody was promoted to deputy opinion editor at U.S. News & World Report.

 

TV Stations

Skip Valet was named vice president and general manager at WFLA-TV.

Gloria Ordaz joined WSCV-TV as weekday co-anchor at 5 and 5:30 p.m. She was previously an anchor at WLTV-TV.

Rita Garcia, former weekday morning anchor at KRIV-TV, joined KTTV-TV as anchor, following the sudden and unexpected departure of longtime “Good Day LA” anchor Steve Edwards.

Deyja Charles was named executive producer for “News 2 at 10” at WBRZ-TV.

 

Radio Stations

WBUR-FM announced that “On Point” host Tom Ashbrook was placed on leave while an outside investigator reviews allegations made against him.

 

Programs

Mario Batali stepped away from The Chew while ABC News reviews the recent allegations against him.

 

Non-US Media

Financial Times reporter Neil Munshi, currently based in New York, will become the new West Africa correspondent based in Lagos, Nigeria.
