Michael Slackman, an international desk editor at The New York Times, announced the appointment of Marjorie Olster as a senior staff editor, overseeing the Sunday report and editing Middle East coverage with a special emphasis on Israel, the West Bank, and Gaza.

Olster’s first day at the Times will be on March 1, 2018.

Marjorie Olster has served as news editor at the Wall Street Journal’s Beirut Bureau since 2013, covering Syria, Iraq, Libya, and Yemen.

Prior to that, Olster worked as a Middle East news editor for the Associated Press.
