USA Today announced today that current Associate Publisher Maribel Perez Wadsworth has been promoted to publisher, filling a position that has been vacant since the retirement of previous Publisher John Zidich earlier this month.

Maribel Perez Wadsworth will retain her position as president of the USA Today Network, which she assumed last year.

Prior to becoming president of the network, Wadsworth served as senior vice president and chief transformation officer for USA Today’s parent company, Gannett Co., Inc. Since joining Gannett in 2009, Wadsworth held several executive positions overseeing the company’s strategic growth initiatives, including as senior vice president and chief strategy officer.

From 1997 to 2009, Wadsworth worked as a reporter and later editor at The News-Press in Fort Myers, FL.

Wadsworth’s promotion is effective immediately.
