The Newsweek Media Group announced today that Dayan Candappa will be taking a leave of absence from his position as chief content officer following a BuzzFeed News report that he had been dismissed from his previous job at Thomson Reuters.

Dayan Candappa will also step away from his position as global editor-in-chief of the International Business Times, which is owned by the Newsweek Media Group.

Candappa joined International Business Times in 2016, after serving as editor of the Americas at Thomson Reuters from 2013 to 2016. Prior to that, Candappa served as Reuter’s regional editor for Asia, based in Singapore and from 2005 to 2008, he was based in Dubai as Reuter’s chief financial correspondent.
