Bridget Terry Long has been appointed the next Dean of Harvard’s Graduate School of Education, effective July 1st.

Currently the school’s Saris Professor of Education and Economics, Long previously served as its Academic Dean from 2013 to 2017.

Long was appointed to the National Board for Education Sciences at the U.S. Department of Education by President Barack Obama in 2010 and has been the recipient of numerous major research grants and awards.

She replaces James E. Ryan, who is ending his five-year tenure as Dean to become President of the University of Virginia.
