Susan Herbst announced her intention to step down as president of the University of Connecticut.

Herbst became the 15th President of the university in 2011, following a lengthy academic career that included positions as executive vice chancellor and chief academic officer of the University System of Georgia from 2007 to 2011, provost of the SUNY University at Albany from 2005 to 2007, and dean of the College of Liberal Arts at Temple University from 2003 to 2005.

Herbst was the first woman to serve as president of UConn since its founding in 1881.

Herbst plans to step down when her current employment agreement concludes on June 30, 2019.
