Nicole Taylor, vice president at ASU Foundation in Arizona, was named president and CEO of Silicon Valley Community Foundation, effective Dec. 19. She will replace Gregory Avis, who was named interim president after the ouster of Emmett Carson in June.

Taylor has deep roots in the Bay Area. In addition to attending and receiving degrees from Stanford University, she was associate vice president and dean of community engagement and diversity at Stanford. She was also president and CEO at Thrive Foundation for Youth, which is based in Palo Alto, Calif., and on the board of directors for The Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco from 2011 to 2016.
