University of Maryland College Park President Wallace Loh has announced that he will step down in June 2019. His resignation comes following an investigation by the University System of Maryland Board of Regents into the June death of UM football player Jordan McNair. The investigation uncovered a lack of administrative oversight and accountability in the athletics department. Athletics Director Damon Evans and football coach DJ Durkin will remain in their positions.

Loh has served as president of UM College Park since 2010. He previously served as provost at the University of Iowa and as Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Seattle University.
