Craig C. Martin, known for his representation of Aon, General Dynamics, MacAndrews & Forbes, United Airlines and the Crown family, was named chairman of Jenner & Block LLP. Previously serving as chair of the firm’s litigation department, Martin has handled myriad cases in federal and state courtrooms. In his new capacity as firm chairman, he will work with other members of Jenner’s leadership team to drive strategy and effectively serve clients, while continuing to represent clients through his own practice.
“Our partners are looking to Craig for his energy, focus and very importantly, the strategic and client-centric approach to the marketplace he has applied to his work over many years,” firm Managing Partner Terrence J. Truax said. A press release also included a statement from Susan Levy. The executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary of Northern Trust Corp. who previously served as Jenner & Block’s managing partner, said: “I’ve worked with Craig personally and have seen first-hand how he adds extraordinary value to the most complex situations through his intellect and insight.”
Martin is the fourth chair to be appointed in Jenner & Block’s 105-year history. The position was previously held by Albert E. Jenner, Jerold S. Solovy and Anton R. Valukas.
David J. Bradford will serve as acting chair of the litigation department as Martin transitions into his new role.
