This morning, Secretary of Veterans Affairs nominee Ronny Jackson withdrew himself from consideration amid accusations of misconduct related to alcohol consumption and misuse of his position as White House physician to freely distribute prescription drugs.

Jackson currently serves as President Trump’s chief personal physician and performed the same function under President Obama. He will continue to fill this role at least for the time being according to White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

Upon his withdrawal, Jackson released a statement denying all accusations related to his conduct as White House physician.
