Now, as the chief of staff reporting directly to former presidential candidate Buttigieg, Schiller advises the secretary’s agenda and manages office staff. Things could get very busy, very quickly as President Joe Biden reportedly plans to take on U.S. infrastructure after the stimulus.

Before joining DOT, Schiller led the U.S. Senate Democratic Steering and Outreach Committee, which is currently chaired by Klobuchar. Prior to that, Schiller was chief of staff to Klobuchar, and as a Clinton administration alum, Schiller led the Hillary for America 2016 campaign as the congressional affairs director after having worked as a speechwriter for the former first lady and special assistant to former President Bill Clinton during their time at the White House in 1992. In between rejoining the Clintons, Schiller spent over a decade working for former Sen. Barbara Boxer as her senior advisor, deputy chief of staff, and chief of staff.

Uniquely, Schiller co-owned a restaurant named Unum  in Washington, D.C., with her husband Phillip Blane from 2011 to 2017.

Schiller is a University of California – Los Angeles graduate, class of 1992, and joined the Friends of Barbara Boxer’s election campaign shortly after college.
