John Lewis Jr., former chief litigation counsel for Coca-Cola Co., joined Shook, Hardy & Bacon LLP in Houston as a partner focused on business litigation matters. Lewis’ experience serving in-house at a Fortune 100 company, as well as in private practice, grants him a valuable skillset, the firm said.

“John understands the importance of the partnership necessary between in-house and outside counsel to achieve the best possible outcome,” said Shook Chairwoman Madeleine McDonough. “His impeccable trial credentials will bring additional depth to Shook’s national roster of commercial litigators.”

At Coca-Cola, Lewis advised C-suite personnel and board members on corporate compliance, government investigations and class action litigation. He headed the company’s diversity and inclusion efforts as its global chief diversity officer in addition to acting as an advisor on non-legal matters such as shareholder issues and brand reputation. This was his second stint at the iconic beverage company, as Lewis spent 14 years there before joining Lawrence & Bundy LLC in April 2016.
