Previously, Solomon was the Wall Street Journal’s chief foreign correspondent and was fired last year after evidence surfaced of his involvement in prospective commercial deals with one of his key sources.

In a recently published editorial for the Columbia Journalism Review, Solomon reflects on the event, concluding: “Having more regular conversations with editors about my travels and sources may have saved me from making some of my mistakes.”

Solomon had worked for the WSJ for almost 20 years, during which he spent his time covering national security and U.S. foreign policy from multiple countries all over the world.

Currently, Solomon is also serving as a fellow at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy.
