BorderpatrolPresident Joe Biden unveiled three executive orders aimed at reversing the immigration policy of former President Donald Trump. One of these executive orders establishes a task force focused on reuniting families separated at the southern border under the Trump administration’s “zero tolerance” policy. This task force will be headed by newly confirmed Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

With the focus on immigration policy, Leadership Connect has been closely tracking immigration journalists. We currently list 200 journalists who cover the beat.

Recent additions on immigration coverage include Politico’s Sabrina Rodriguez, and Caitlin Dickerson, who recently joined The Atlantic after a stint at The New York Times.

In a White House briefing, Biden explains that the second order will focus on providing a safe and orderly processing of asylum seekers at the U.S. border with Mexico. The third order will aim on strengthening integration and inclusion efforts for new Americans. Biden said,

By the grace of God and the goodwill of neighbors, we’ll reunite these children and reestablish our reputation as being a haven for people in need.
