The University of Maryland, College Park has appointed Amitabh Varshney as the new dean of the College of Computer, Mathematical and Natural Sciences, effective March 1, 2018.
Varshney, who joined the university’s Department of Computer Science faculty in 2000, recently completed a one-year term as interim vice president of research.
Alongside that, Varshney has also held the role of director of the University of Maryland Institute for Advanced Computer Studies since 2010.
Varshney’s appointment comes after a six-month national search.
