Former Jefferson President to Lead Babson University

By December 14, 2018

Dr. Stephen Spinelli Jr.

Dr. Stephen Spinell Jr. has been named the 14th president of Babson College, effective July 1. Spinelli has a lengthy affiliation with Babson, having earned his MBA from the college in 1992, as well as serving in multiple offices over a 14-year span, including the Alan Lewis Chair in Global Management and Vice Provost for Entrepreneurship and Global Management.

Spinelli will become the first leader of Babson College to have previously served as the head of another university, having been President of Philadelphia University from 2007 to 2017 – he oversaw the merger between Philadelphia University and Thomas Jefferson University.

As the co-founder of Jiffy Lube International, Spinelli was inducted into the Babson Alumni Entrepreneur Hall of Fame in 2011, making him an obvious choice for a school consistently ranked as the number one college for entrepreneurship by U.S. News & World Report.
