Robert Iuliano

Robert W. Iuliano was appointed the 15th President of Gettysburg College, effective July 1. He has worked at the Crimson-clad university since 1994 and currently serves as senior vice president, general counsel and deputy to President Lawrence S. Bacow.

Bacow succeeded Drew Gilpin Faust in July. According to the announcement, Iuliano had partnered with Faust to charge and compose a university-wide committee on belonging and inclusion; and in 2015, he helped convene a cross-disciplinary committee of tenured faculty that worked for over two academic years to restate and reaffirm the faculty’s commitment to student body diversity and its importance to Harvard’s pedagogy and mission.

David Brennan, chairman of the Gettysburg College board of trustees, stated:

At Harvard, Bob has been involved in key decisions the university has made about strategy, policy and student life. This wide variety of experience at such a remarkable institution, coupled with his passion for teaching and the liberal arts, translates into the type of leaders we need at Gettysburg College.

Iuliano will replace Janet Morgan Riggs, who is retiring after having served as president of Gettysburg College since 2009.
