Today, Missouri Lieutenant Governor Mike Parson was sworn in as Governor of Missouri, following Governor Eric Greitens’ resignation.

Greitens has been under investigation for felony charges for the past few months, and his resignation avoids potential impeachment by the Missouri State House.

Lt. Governor Mike Parson is a former Polk County sheriff who has served as both a State Representative and as a State Senator. Parson has spent the days since the announcement of Greitens’ departure speaking with Missouri’s Congressional delegation and other state elected officials.

Parson’s swearing-in was expected to be a quiet event after the tumult of Greitens’ departure.
