Two previous Hill aides have returned in top positions for the Select Committee on the Climate Crisis. Ana Unruh Cohen was named staff director, while Alison Cassady became deputy staff director, both on the majority side. Cohen returns from the Natural Resources Defense Council, and Cassady from the Center for American Progress (CAP).

Before entering the private sector in 2017, Cohen was deputy staff director for the Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming, which existed from 2007 to 2011. That was the predecessor to the current committee but was not renewed for the 112th Congress. Cohen was also the director of energy, climate and natural resources for Sen. Edward Markey (D-MA).

Cassady was a professional staff member for the Oversight and Government Reform Committee, as well as a senior professional staff member for the Committee on Energy and Commerce prior joining CAP in 2014.

The Select Committee on the Climate Crisis is chaired by Congresswoman Kathy Castor (D-FL) and Garret Graves (R-LA) as the ranking member.
