Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, hired a former organized crime prosecutor to lead the investigations into President Donald Trump.
Daniel Goldman, who served as an Assistant United States Attorney in New York’s southern district, joined the committee’s staff as senior advisor and director of investigations. During his tenure as the deputy chief of the organized crime unit from 2007 to 2017, he prosecuted members of the Russian mob in New York for racketeering, money laundering and other white-collar crimes.
Goldman’s hiring comes among numerous investigative activities by House Democrats. Earlier this week, Chairman of the Judiciary Committee Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) opened an investigation into the president and his associates, requesting documents from 81 sources.
