On October 3, President Trump announced that he will nominate Bernard McNamee to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for the term expiring June 30, 2020.

Currently, McNamee serves as the executive director of the Office of Policy for the U.S. Department of Energy, a position he’s held since June 2018.

Prior to that, McNamee was deputy general counsel for energy policy from May 2017 to February 2018 and a senior counsel at McGuireWoods LLP from January 2016 to May 2017. He also spent some time on Capitol Hill serving as senior domestic policy advisor for Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX).

McNamee attended the University of Virginia as an undergraduate and has a law degree from Emory University’s School of Law.
