Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell appointed Andrew Pereira as the new communications director for his office.
Pereira, an award-winning investigative journalist with a 20-year career in broadcast television, previously served as the public information officer in the Office of the Managing Director in Honolulu, since 2015.
“Andrew has shown himself to be a valuable asset to our team as we continue to tell the story of this administration,” said Mayor Caldwell in the news release. “We are fortunate that he has taken on this new role as communications director to build upon all of his hard work over the past two years.”
Alex Zannes replaces Pereira as the public information officer. Zannes worked as a sports reporter and tv news anchor in New Mexico, Texas, and Hawaii, prior to joining the Mayor’s staff.
