On June 25, 2018, Jason Kander announced his official candidacy for Mayor of Kansas City, MO. If elected, Kander would replace Mayor Sly James, who is unable to run again due to term limits.
Kander served as Missouri’s Secretary of State from 2013-2017 and prior to that, he served as a Representative in the Missouri House of Representatives from 2009-2013.
The election is slated for 2019.
