Today, Altria Group, Inc. announced the retirement of Martin J. “Marty” Barrington as chairman, chief executive officer and president, effective at the end of this year’s annual meeting of shareholders, scheduled for May 17, 2018.

Barrington, 65, will be retiring after 25 years at Altria and its subsidiaries, serving as chairman and CEO for the last six years.

The board selected Altria veteran, Howard A. Willard, III to be the company’s next chairman and CEO.

Willard joined Philip Morris USA, a subsidiary of Altria, in 1992 and was named to his current role as chief operating officer in 2015.
