Representative Patrick Meehan (R-PA, 7th) announced Thursday that he will not seek reelection in 2018.

This announcement comes in the wake of allegations of sexual misconduct from a former aide, as well as questions about Meehan’s use of taxpayer money to settle her complaint. Earlier this week, Meehan was removed from his post on the House Ethics Committee, which is now investigating these reports.

Meehan represents Pennsylvania’s seventh congressional district, which includes suburbs of Philadelphia.

Pennsylvania’s State Supreme Court declared the state’s political map unconstitutional and all 18 districts will be redrawn in the coming weeks, which will likely change the political dynamics of the district.
