On February 8, 2018, President Trump announced his intention to nominate Emory A. Rounds III as director of the Office of Government Ethics (OGE).

Rounds, who currently works as an associate counsel at OGE, previously served as a deputy associate counsel to President George W. Bush and as the acting chief of OGE’s Internal Operations Division.

Despite Rounds earlier criticism of President Trump during his departure from OGE in 2017, former OGE Director Walter Shaub commented that he was “excited” that someone as “steeped in knowledge” of OGE as Rounds was being nominated to succeed him.

The Senate is required to confirm his appointment as director.
