During the announcement, President Trump praised Haley stating that “she’s done a fantastic job and we’ve done a fantastic job together. We’ve solved a lot of problems and we’re in the process of solving a lot of problems.”

Since January 2017, Haley has served as the permanent representative, and before that was governor of South Carolina starting in 2011. Haley’s first elected position was as a member of South Carolina’s House of Representatives from 2005-2010. Haley graduated from Clemson University in 1994 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.

President Trump said that he will announce his nominee to replace Haley within the next couple of weeks.
