Ben Barna joined Interview Magazine as Features Editor.

Michael Sisk was named Publisher and Chief Revenue Officer of the Chronicle of Higher Education.

At Art in America, William S. Smith was promoted to Editor-in-Chief.

Jonathan Maze joined Restaurant Business as Executive Editor. He previously served as Senior Editor of Nation’s Restaurant News.

 

Newspapers

The Washington Post named Tiffany Harness the new Deputy National Security Editor. She previously served as Middle East Editor and Assignment Editor on the Foreign News Desk.

Voice Media Group, the owner of LA Weekly, completed its sale of the newsweekly to Semanal Media, LLC. The sale resulted in massive layoffs. Among the departing journalists are: Editor Mara Shalhoup, Publisher Matt Cooperstein, Managing Editor Drew Tewksbury; Deputy Editor for Arts and Culture Gwynedd Stuart; Music Editor Andy Hermann; Food Editor Katherine Spiers; Staff Writers Jason McGahan and Dennis Romero; and Film Critic April Wolfe. Brian Calle was named Operations Manager overseeing the newsroom. He is the former Opinion Editor for the Southern California News Group at Digital First Media.

Dagmar Aalund was named Deputy Chief, Life and Arts Coverage for The Wall Street Journal.

She previously served as Deputy Page One News Editor for the paper. Mansion Editor Emily Gitter became the new Business and Finance Editor for WSJ Weekend.

Matthew Piper, a former Government Reporter for The Salt Lake Tribune, joined Deseret News as Investigative Reporter.

Tia Mitchell, former Tallahassee Bureau Chief for the Florida Times-Union, joined Atlanta Journal-Constitution as DeKalb County Government Reporter.

At The Chicago Tribune, Food and Dining Reporter Joseph Hernandez was promoted to Deputy Food and Dining Editor.

At The New York Times, Travel Section Editor Monica Drake was promoted to Assistant Managing Editor, Digital Features and Projects, a masthead position. Ali Watkins was named National Security Reporter effective December 18, 2017. She comes from POLITICO where she serves as National Political Correspondent.  Jeff Mays joined the Metro Desk as a City Hall Reporter, and Luis Ferré-Sadurní was promoted to General Assignment Reporter.

At USA Today, Joanne Lipman announced that she was stepping down as Publisher and Chief Content Officer of the USA Today Network and Editor-in-Chief of USA Today at the end of the year to focus on her upcoming book.

At the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Lisa Brown was promoted to Business Editor, effective January 2, 2018.

 

News Services

At the Associated Press, Deputy Business Editor Brad Foss was promoted to Global Business Editor.

Longtime New York Times Reporter Stephen Farrell joined Thomson Reuters as Jerusalem Bureau Chief.

 

Networks

ABC News Chief Investigative Correspondent Brian Ross was suspended for four weeks without pay for errors made in his reporting.

Yamiche Alcindor is leaving The New York Times to join PBS NewsHour as White House Correspondent, effective January 16, 2018. She continues to contribute to NBC News and MSNBC.

FOX News Channel Contributor Gillian H. Turner was promoted to Correspondent.

At CBS News, CBS Evening News Producer Kimberly Godwin was promoted to Vice President, News. She continues with her position as Director for Talent Development and Diversity.

Tim Gaughan became Vice President, News Services and News Director for CBS Newspath.

 

Digital

Jason Mojica, Executive Producer for documentary films at VICE, left the company following allegations of inappropriate behavior in the workplace.

TheStreet announced editorial layoffs this week. Among those who were laid off are Social Media Reporter Sarah Solomon; Personal Finance Editor Ross Kenneth Urken; Deputy Managing Editor Leon Lazaroff; RealMoney Contributor Giovanni Bruno; Reporter Keris Alison Lahiff; and Executive Video Producer Gabriel Kinder.

Breitbart News Network launched a new radio talk show “Breitbart News Tonight” which will air weekdays from 9:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. on the SiriusXM’s Patriot channel. The show is hosted by West Coast Editor Rebecca Mansour and California Editor Joel B. Pollak.

 

TV Stations

At WHYY-TV, Ariella Cohen was named Managing Editor of PlanPhilly.com. Kevin McCorry became Editor of Keystone Crossroads.

At KQED-TV, Tonya Mosley was promoted to Silicon Valley Bureau Chief.

 

Radio Stations

At WNYC-AM/FM, longtime Hosts Leonard Lopate and Jonathan Schwartz were put on leave pending investigations into allegations of inappropriate conduct.
