Voice Media Group, the owner of LA Weekly, completed its sale of the newsweekly to Semanal Media, LLC. The sale resulted in massive layoffs. Among the departing journalists are: Editor Mara Shalhoup, Publisher Matt Cooperstein, Managing Editor Drew Tewksbury; Deputy Editor for Arts and Culture Gwynedd Stuart; Music Editor Andy Hermann; Food Editor Katherine Spiers; Staff Writers Jason McGahan and Dennis Romero; and Film Critic April Wolfe. Brian Calle was named Operations Manager overseeing the newsroom. He is the former Opinion Editor for the Southern California News Group at Digital First Media.
Dagmar Aalund was named Deputy Chief, Life and Arts Coverage for The Wall Street Journal.
She previously served as Deputy Page One News Editor for the paper. Mansion Editor Emily Gitter became the new Business and Finance Editor for WSJ Weekend.
Matthew Piper, a former Government Reporter for The Salt Lake Tribune, joined Deseret News as Investigative Reporter.

At USA Today, Joanne Lipman announced that she was stepping down as Publisher and Chief Content Officer of the USA Today Network and Editor-in-Chief of USA Today at the end of the year to focus on her upcoming book.

Breitbart News Network launched a new radio talk show “Breitbart News Tonight” which will air weekdays from 9:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. on the SiriusXM’s Patriot channel. The show is hosted by West Coast Editor Rebecca Mansour and California Editor Joel B. Pollak.
