Gallogly, an OU alumnus, previously served as the chairman and chief executive officer of LyondellBasell and has spent the last three decades in executive roles with ConocoPhillips, Chevron Phillips Chemical Company, and Phillips Petroleum Company.

Currently, Gallogly is a member of the OU Gallogly College of Engineering Board of Visitors, the CU Engineering Advisory Council, and the University Cancer Foundation Board of Visitors at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.

Gallogly succeeds David L. Boren, who plans to retire after twenty-three years leading the University of Oklahoma, making him one of the longest-serving university presidents in American history.
