Cities and Towns:
New York, NY – Mayor Bill de Blasio announced changes to his staff this week. Samir Saini will serve as the new Commissioner of the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications. Saini comes to the administration from Atlanta, GA, where he serves as Chief Information Officer. He replaces Anne Roest, who is retiring. Dominic Williams will serve as Chief Policy Advisor to the Mayor. He served as Chief of Staff to First Deputy Mayor Anthony Shorris, who is leaving the administration in January. In a press release, Mayor de Blasio said, “I’m confident Samir Saini’s impressive work in Atlanta makes him well-equipped to take on the crucial work of this agency, including continuing the modernization of our 911 system – which touches the lives of all New Yorkers.”
Pueblo, CO – This week, the City Council elected Chris Nicoll as Council President. The Council President serves as Mayor for the city. Nicoll replaces Steve Nawrocki, who did not run for reelection. Nicoll has served on the City Council since 2012.
Louisville, KY – Mayor Greg Fisher appointed Chris Seidt as the new Director of Information Technology for the city. Seidt has worked for the Department of Information Technology since 2008, serving as Network Engineer and IT Operations Manager. In a press release, Mayor Fisher said, “Louisville Metro has been recognized as one of the most innovative, forward-facing cities in the U.S., and our city government has a Department of Information Technology that can deliver the people-friendly solutions of today and tomorrow. Chris Seidt has been in the middle of many of our innovation efforts as a respected member of the IT team.”
Counties and Authorities:
Sonoma County, CA – The County Board of Supervisors held their reorganizing meeting and elected James Gore as Chairman for a term that will last one year. Gore succeeds Shirlee Zane, who continues to serve on the Board.
Port of Seattle – Commissioner at Large Courtney Gregoire was elected Commission President this week. She succeeds John Creighton, who was not reelected to the Commission in November. In a press release, Gregoire said, “The Port of Seattle will continue to lead on economic and community development for our region while leading in environmental sustainability. We want to ensure that all of our community members benefit from the ongoing growth at our facilities throughout King County.”
