Current Vice Mayor Thelda Williams is now serving as the interim mayor of Phoenix. She replaces Greg Stanton, who resigned on May 29, to run for U.S. Congress.

Williams, who served as interim mayor once before in 1994, has been on the Phoenix City Council since 2008 and previously was on the Council from 1989 to 1996.

Williams will serve as the interim mayor until June 11, when the City Council members will choose a Mayor Pro Tem who will serve as the mayor of the city until a special election is called on November 6, 2018.
