Joseph Lhota

New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority Chairman Joseph Lhota announced his resignation on Nov. 9.

Lhota, whose resignation comes after accusations of conflict of interest stemming from his position on the board of directors for Madison Square Gardens, will be succeeded by current Vice Chairman Fernando Ferrer.

Ferrer will serve as acting chairman until the New York State Legislature convenes in January and can appoint a successor.
