Bradley Byrne

Republican Congressman Bradley Byrne of Alabama announced his run against Democratic Sen. Doug Jones in 2020, to try to reclaim the seat for the Republican party.

Jones is considered one of the most vulnerable Democrats in the 2020 election, after narrowly defeating Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore in 2017 and becoming the first Democratic Senator for Alabama in 25 years. Byrne is the first to announce his intention to oust Jones, in what is expected to be a crowded race in a deeply conservative state. Representative Gary Palmer is reportedly considering entering the race, and some are calling on Lt. Gov. Will Ainsworth to launch a campaign.

The primary will be held on March 3, 2020.
