A common discussion being had right now is: What is an organization doing to promote diversity, equity and inclusion? For this infographic, we are specifically looking at DEI work at the nonprofit level, which includes the creation of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer position.
Methods
Defining race, gender, sexuality, and sexual orientation cannot just be based on the way someone looks. For this project, Leadership Connect focused on these four identifiers and looked through various sources, such as LinkedIn, published works, company/panel biographies, and organization affiliation. Please note that these are not the only identities that are a part of diversity, equity, and inclusion. There are various identities and experiences that provide insight for an organization, such as neurodiversity and first-generation status. For more information, feel free to take a look at this Diversity Wheel, which was created by Johns Hopkins University.
